The Bug Boy

Daniel has been invited by Panta Rei Danseteater to create a solo for dancer Ian Yves Ancheta as part of their TILT Grow program.

The work takes its inspiration from the song “Por una cabeza” by the celebrated tango singer Carlos Gardel to lyrics by Alfredo Le Pera. The song speaks about a compulsive horse-track gabler who compares addiction to horses to his attraction to women. Bug Boy is a term to described an apprentice jockey. Proietto picks one of the most famous tango songs of all time to play with the manic and hysterical idiosyncrasies of the porteños (the port people), as they are called the native people from Buenos Aires, the cradle of tango.

The premiere will take place during “Oslofjorden danser” in the beautiful island of Oscarsborg.

The dance walk ends with a party and live DJ set.

Panta Rei Dance Theater (PRD) is an Oslo-based dance company established in 2000. Since its inception, the company has made sixteen performances and led a number of major dance projects.
